Color Symbology of the Signs
and Planets in Relation to Jewels

There is a philosophy of color in relation to minerals which has come down to us from antiquity, based upon the fact that the twelve zodiacal Hierarchies who work with the mineral kingdom infuse into its component parts something of the force and rhythm which belong to themselves. All minerals and gems are, therefore, attuned to some one of the twelve constellations and proclaim this affinity by their color.

By virtue of this fact anyone possessing or wearing metals or jewels attracts to himself the planetary forces to which they are related.

The ancients held that every gem was originally crystallized by and around an entity which had a real, though subjective (or inner plane), activity and awareness. This entity was capable of impress ing the subconscious mind of the person possessing the gem as to coming events, thereby enabling him to avoid danger or to embrace opportunities. Hence, the great importance of wearing jewels in harmony with one's stellar rays.

Ancients who understood and made use of these hidden and now well-nigh forgotten powers existent in jewels, fashioned talismans which were magnets of great potency, either for good or evil in accordance with their use. They were capable of transmitting powers making for the restoration of health and well-being, and equally able to convey forces carrying in their train destruction and death. Silversmiths, goldsmiths and lapidaries of early times ranked with apothecaries as skilled magicians.

The records of early Christian writers reveal a belief that the stones in the Breastplate of the High Priest were so highly magne tized by their respective planetary rulers that they were capable of responding to questions in flashing color language. It is known also that Hermetic Brotherhood strictly observed rules relating to the use of precious stones on days corresponding to their planetary affinities, knowing well the powers of such association.

The correlation of jewels to the days of the week are as follows:

Sunday Sun's Day Gold and Yellow Gems
Monday Moon's day Pearls and all white stones.
Tuesday Mars' day Rubies and all red stones.
Wednesday

Mercury's day

Turquoise (to claim protection from the Air with whom Mercury is closely allied), Sapphire and blue stones.
Thursday Jupiter's day Amethyst, and purple stones.
Friday Venus' day Emerald and green stones.
Saturday Saturn's day Diamond; also black stones.

The generally accepted correlation of metals and precious stones with their zodiacal focii and color is as follows:
